What's in my travel make-up bag?

I recently embarked on my first 'holiday' in about 8 years last week, and of course, I had to take some make-up away with me. Myself, my daughter, Mum, Dad and brother stayed in a caravan in Berwick upon Tweed from Tuesday to Friday - right next to the beach no less! Although it wasn't a massive full-blown holiday, it was still nice to get away and have a change of scenery. There wasn't an awful lot to do in the caravan park but it was enough for the short while that we were there. We went to the beach, arcade, indoor swimming pool, had some of the local Chinese food delivered (nothing compares to the Chinese's here!), and went into town a few times for lunch and dinner. To be perfectly honest, I only wore a full face of make-up about two or three times whilst there, but it's still good to have some trusted beauty products there rather than none. This is the first opportunity I've had since starting my blog to actually post about my travel make-up essentials and as they say, there's no time like the present.

Starting off with the most important step in my make-up routine: liquid eyeliner. It's something I truly could not live without. I feel like myself when I have my jet black winged eyes, and I'm sure many of you feel the same. Miners Define & Line Liquid Eyeliner has great consistency and colour pay-off. The little felt nib brush for application works a treat too. I can't describe exactly what's so amazing about it, but just take my word for it. To compliment my eyes even further, I've been using Maybelline The Mega Plush Volum' Express as my go-to mascara for the past while now. It provides lovely length and volume, without the dreaded clumpiness. Topshop's Cream Blush in Head Over Heels is a truly radiant offering: a coral colour which looks and sits so beautifully on the skin. It's weightlessness is perfect if you want to achieve a minimal look for Summer. If you want your eyes to be minimal too, then MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study is one to try. You can wear it on it's own or layer it with another eye product for longer staying power. If you're anything like me and your T-zone - particularly your nose - can only be described as an oil slick in warmer weather, then you'd rather not sport the heavy-cakey-foundation-melting-off-your-face look. Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua is a gorgeous, light coverage foundation which also includes SPF 15. This, like every other foundation I've tried, will fade away on me eventually during the heat, but it's more comfortable and doesn't look bad when it does decide to disappear.

NYX has a fabulous array of eyeshadow palettes, and their 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette in Champagne & Caviar is a firm favourite of mines. It's neutral shades enable you to create both a natural or dramatic look. MUA Trio Eyeshadow Palette in Chocolate Box is a relative newcomer to my collection, and I absolutely love these three baked shades. It's pretty compact too, so was easy to pack away. For £2.50, it's mega affordable. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder is an oldie but a goodie. I don't own many face powders, but this is the one I will always go back to.

Who wants to have dry, unsightly lips at this time of year? Not I. MAC Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm in Glac√© (see my review here) is a unique baby blue-coloured lip balm that you'll be excited to wear and show off. The next lip product I took with me is also by MAC - their Cremesheen Glass in Fashion Scoop. Every girl needs a pretty, pale pink lip colour in their collection and MAC's lipgloss formulas are always winners for me. Any more MAC products you ask? Well, yes, but of course. MAC Lipstick in Milan Mode is my latest purchase from their permanent lipstick line, so I chucked it in my make-up bag as I was looking forward to trying it out. It's a deep pink/purple shade with a lot of shimmer. Yummy. Next up is my holy grail eyebrow pencil, Shavata Double Ended Eyebrow Pencil in Dusk & Dawn. I only use the Dusk shade, as Dawn is far too red-toned for me. I can only hope that they sell Dusk as a single product for my future repurchase. I've tried out other eyebrow products but nothing compares to this bad boy. I have mixed feelings about this next product, and I really do want to love it. Benefit Fake Up Concealer goes on so smooth and creamy thanks to it's hydrating ring, but it's downfall is that it makes my mascara smudge onto my undereye area, even when I apply powder on top of it. I love using it to cover up any extra redness or blemishes though. Last but not least, we have the Maybelline Master Drama Khol Liner, which I actually did not use on my trip. The reason I did pack it though, is because, it's one of the best eyeliners I've used. It smudges nicely when blended out, and is an amazing deep, dark black which I love to use on my waterline for night time looks.

Are any of your favourites in my travel make-up bag?

I hope you're all having an amazing weekend, and well done you if you actually stuck with this rather lengthy post!

NEW in the UK: Maybelline Baby Lips!

I first laid eyes on Maybelline Baby Lips through YouTubers from the US, and was instantly jealous that us lowly souls in the UK couldn't get them. It's one of those things where as a beauty addict/blogger you just have to try. Hype is indeed a very influential thing. Recently, whilst browsing the Boots website, I seen that Baby Lips were finally coming to the UK! I entered my email address so that I would be notified when they were available to purchase online. My order came literally half an hour ago by next day delivery and me being me, couldn't wait to share my buys with you. I may or may not have bought a few extra ones for my upcoming 1st blog birthday giveaway too... So without further ado - feast your eyes.

L-R: Hydrate (includes SPF 20), Intense Care (includes SPF 20), Pink Punch, Mint Fresh (includes SPF 20), Peach Kiss and Cherry Me

Swatched L-R: Pink Punch, Peach Kiss & Cherry Me

I've only swatched the balms with an actual colour to it as the regular, clear ones don't give you any colour. I'm still going to be posting further about these bad boys with an in-depth review of each one, so keep your eyes peeled for that! Going by first impressions, I think I love them. They'll be a welcome addition to my handbag for keeping my lips lovely and hydrated.

Have you bought anything from the Baby Lips range?
What are your favourites?

Would You Rather? - The Beauty Edition

Hiya lovelies!
Sorry for not posting for a few days, but I've been incredibly stressed out in my personal life, and just haven't found the time to post. It just seems to be one thing after the other with me right now. On a brighter note, I've been out in the sunshine on my days off work and got a wee bit of a tan yesterday on my arms and shoulders, but alas, my legs are still as white as a sheet. I wanted to post something simple and fun today, and I will be getting right back into the serious beauty stuff as of tomorrow! Enjoy! Oh, and hello to all my lovely new readers too. I've had a bit of an influx recently. :)

Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks and lip glosses or lose all of your palettes and eye shadows?
I'd rather lose my palettes and eyeshadows, because I hardly use them anyway. My most common make-up look is some winged liner and lipstick or gloss. I used to use palettes all the time when I was younger but as you start buying more, they're understandably harder to use.

Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?
I'd rather I'd never be able to cut it again. I haven't had my hair cut since last August, and before that I'm pretty sure I grew it for about two years. I love having long hair (if only it were thicker), but I have had my hair short-ish before. Remember the Victoria Beckham bob that was longer at the front and shorter at the back?: I had that when I was younger. I'd be quite happy to not bother getting my hair cut if I didn't have bajillions of split ends.

Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
I'd rather wear a pink cheer colour, as 99.9% of my blushes are that colour. Pink looks great any time in any season, and there are so many different variations.

If you had £1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
The sensible option for me would be to spend it on clothes, as I am currently seriously lacking. Infact, I'm forever lacking in clothes, as I just cannot justify spending too much on essentials (jeans, etc). River Island is my favourite clothes shop, but I think 40 quid for jeans is ridiculous. But hey, I buy them when needed anyway. That, and I'm simply not that into buying new clothes. So me being the silly person that I am would blow it all on make-up! That would make me very happy indeed.

Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?
I'd imagine the feeling of lipstick on your eyelids would be horrific. They'd be sticking together all the time, and it would be rather unpleasant if you were to get some in your eyes. I'd opt for eyeliner as lipstick and you could use any colour you wanted, then apply a balm over the top if needed.

Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
What a silly question.. MAC obviously. We don't have Sephora in the UK but when I'm in Florida next year, I will be taking full advantage of the ones there.

Would you rather only use one eye shadow colour or one lip colour for the rest of your life?
I'd choose one eye shadow colour, and make it dark brown or black. I change up my lip colours a lot, so I need a bit of variety in that department.

Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
I'd rather wear Summer clothes in Winter, as I don't get cold very easily. I'm always moaned at to put on a jacket or cardigan by my Mum when it's chilly outside. Being sweaty and uncomfortable is too much for me.

Would you rather dark nails or bright nails all year round?
As much as dark nail colours are gorgeous, I definitely have more crazy, bright colours in my collection. It would be a shame to waste them all. I still haven't been able to stop biting my nails, so I haven't painted them in ages. I don't even realise I'm doing it either!

Would you rather give up your favourite lip product or your favourite eye product?
My favourite eye product is eyeliner and there's no way I could live without that. I can't wear a full face of make-up without it.

Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a pony tail or a messy bun?
I wouldn't mind either if my hair was thick or had any sort of volume. Both of the above hairstyles look less than mediocre on me, but if I had to choose, I'd go for a messy bun.

Would you rather never being able to paint your nails again or never use lip gloss?
Like I said before, I can't stop biting my nails so I'm going for never being able to paint my nails again. I'm most definitely a lip gloss kinda girl.

Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all? or sharpie them in everyday?
Oh dear. Now those are equally frightening thoughts. I think I'd rather use a sharpie and just try my absolute best to use light strokes. It would have to be a light-medium brown sharpie too. Do they sell those?

Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?
Without nail polish, for sure.

I tag everyone of you who reads this to do it yourselves!

FOTD #6 + MAC Tropical Taboo swatches

It's been a long, long time since I've done a Face Of The Day post, and I decided to take some photos of my make-up from Friday. I also got some new MAC products delivered on that day from the new Tropical Taboo collection. I really wish MAC wouldn't release so many new things at the one time, because I just want to buy all of it and their prices rise with each passing year. I treated myself to some Brush Cleanser aswell as my ELF one is almost empty. The products I bought were Sweet Samba Mineralize Blush and Calypso Beat Cremesheen Glass - both of them are absolutely stunning! I will be doing full reviews on them as soon as I can so keep your eyes out for those. In the photos below I'm wearing both the blush and lipgloss. Let's crack on with the make-up!

What do you think of Friday's look, and my MAC purchases?
Do you like FOTD posts?

Hope you've all had a great weekend.

My Current Skincare Routine

Skincare has become a very important part of my daily routine over the past little while. I've used various cleansers and moisturisers over the years, but it's always been when I can actually be bothered to apply them. Now, I really enjoy taking care of my face day and night, and it's something I look forward to. I'm pretty religious about it now. I believe good skincare will benefit your skin both in the present and in the future, and as a bonus, your make-up practically glides on. My combination (but mostly dry and dehydrated) skin is dull and uneven, so it needs lots of moisture to help it out. These products deliver just that for me.

Step by step: Soak a cotton pad with Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution and cleanse the neck and face in upwards motions (morning and night) / Apply Garnier Skin Naturals Caffeine Eye Roll-On to tired under-eye area (morning only) / Moisturise neck and face with Neutrogena Ultimate Moisture Day Cream (morning and night) / Use Garnier Skin Naturals Ultra-Lift Eye Cream to moisturise under-eye area (morning and night) / Give skin an extra moisture boost with Dr. Organic Rose Otto Facial Serum (in morning, apply before moisturising and at night, after moisturising)

This super cleanser brilliantly removes any make-up and dirt from your face. Afterwards, your skin is left feeling as fresh as a daisy. It's fragrance free formula means it's fab for sensitive skin too. Bioderma's is the best cleanser I've ever used - hands down. To read my review, go here.

Garnier Skin Naturals Caffeine Eye Roll-On £8.65
The combination of the steel roller ball and the liquid create a wonderfully cool feeling on your tired under-eye area. It's great for when your eyes feel heavy in the morning. I apply in circular motions a couple of times but I could sit there forever and do it!

Neutrogena Ultimate Moisture Day Cream £7.99
This particular moisturiser is aimed at people with dry skin like me. It makes my skin look and feel hydrated, and smoothes over any dry patches I have. Although it is a 'day cream', I still use it at night time too. I personally don't see the point in using two different moisturisers if one is enough. I've almost ran out of this stuff, so a little bit of online shopping is due.

Garnier Skin Naturals Ultra-Life Eye Cream £8.99
Being a beauty blogger, I've learned lots of new things about skincare. One great tip I have learned is that the skin underneath your eyes is different to the skin elsewhere on your face. It's thinner and far more delicate. Other people will argue that a normal moisturiser is fine for use on their under-eye area, but I personally feel that this consistency is more gentle than a regular moisturiser's would be. Using an eye cream is a new experience for me, just like the next product.

Dr. Organic Rose Otto Facial Serum £12.29
This is the first facial serum I have ever used with my skincare routine, and I wouldn't go back. It means that you use less moisturiser, saving you both product and money. The thing I love most about this is the way it makes skin feel and look plump. My skin looks healthy and glowing all day because of this serum. I would highly recommend incorporating one into your existing routine if you can. Rose is a favourite scent of mines also.

What do you think of my skincare routine?
Tell me what yours consists of in the comments!
