Figs & Rouge Coco Rose Lip Balm

I received this rather cute Figs & Rouge Coco Rose Lip Balm in June's Glossybox (which I have sadly now cancelled), and being the lip balm addict that I am, couldn't wait to try something new out. This particular lip balm is a bit different from the norm - for starters, it's more of a hybrid between a lip gloss and lip balm, and is quite thick in consistency. Figs & Rouge say it's "100% natural and free of petroleum, parabens, mineral oil, synthetic colours & aromas". Sounds good enough to me. I love to keep my lips hydrated all day long so I get a lot of use out of lip balms. It has a lovely rose scent to it and is chock full of pink and silver sparkles. This means you can have both soft and glamourous lips at the same time! For me, it doesn't give much of a tint, but you can definitely see the sparkle when worn. It's squeeze tube makes for easy application too. I squeeze a tiny bit out, which is all you need, and apply with a clean fingertip. Another thing I love about this lip balm is it's striking packaging - flamingos against a bright pink backdrop. Incredibly pretty! All in all, I'm really enjoying using this lip balm and will continue to use it up. You can get your own for £4.95 at

Have you tried any Figs & Rouge lip balms?

Empties #1

I've been wanting to do an empties post for what seems like forever, and I've finally gotten around to writing this one up. The products I go through most are ones from the shower: shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, etc. They're things that I use almost every day so I go through them rather quickly, plus I have an extra little person in my house who uses some of them - my daughter. I honestly don't think I have ever finished a make-up product, but I am actively trying to use things up and not let them go to waste. So, for my first empties post, as you can see from above, it's practically bursting with shower/body care products. Here are my thoughts and the question that I personally want to know when I read other empties posts: Will I repurchase?

I have sensitive skin in some areas and so does my daughter, so the Sanex Dermo Sensitive Foaming Cream Bath is great for her shower and bath times. It doubles up as both a body wash and a bubble bath and weighs in at a rather large 650ml. You're getting great value with this one. Repurchase? Yes! TreacleMoon My Coconut Island Bath & Shower Gel is a favourite of mines for it's gorgeous smell. I could actually sit and sniff it all day! It's also available in handwash form too, I believe. TreacleMoon's little blurbs on the back of their products are rather amusing aswell: something about Matilda Fizzbucket and garden gnomes?! You'll have to read it for yourself. Repurchase? Definitely! The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Shower Gel is beautifully floral-scented and looks so pretty in your bathroom. I actually thought this was limited edition but it's still on The Body Shop's website, so grab it while you can. I'm really into floral scents at the moment for Summer. They're so light and fresh. This lasted me quite a long time too. Repurchase? Yep. As well as from make-up, I'm also very much into hand products. I love keeping my hands clean and germ-free. Imperial Leather Cotton Soft Hand Wash was just something I picked up on a whim when doing my household shopping. It has a pleasant fragrance, which can only be described as, well, cotton. There's no other way to put it. Asda's website (where I do my shopping) usually has deals on hand washes so I pick up two or three at a time. Repurchase? I wouldn't exactly run to grab it, but I wouldn't have a problem with it being in my bathroom either. Colgate Plax Multi-Protection Mouthwash was again, another whim purchase. I picked it up along with my shopping just because. It leaves a slight bitter aftertaste and I like really minty mouthwashes, because it feels like they've done the job better. Repurchase? No. I like super minty!

I'll admit it - I'm a sweaty Betty, so I like to make 100% sure that my underarms are as fresh as possible for as long as possible. Nivea Pearl & Beauty Deodorant done just that for me. It smells lovely and feminine, and it gets extra points for being a roll-on. I don't like spray deodorants because I feel like they don't half as good a job as roll-ons do. Repurchase? Sure! (Do you like my deodorant pun? No?) Unfortunately, this other deodorant from the same brand didn't wow me. The Nivea Sensitive & Pure Deodorant didn't do much in the way of eliminating perspiration and as I said earlier, I need a deodorant to actually work for me. I don't know if it's because of the 'for sensitive skin' element that it wasn't up to par. Repurchase? Unfortunately not. Going back to the shower gel front, I received the Korres Guava Shower Gel in a beauty box from a few months ago. It's the first ever Korres product I have tried and I was not dissatisfied. This little beauty smells divine and feels positively luxurious too. Repurchase? Yes - loved it! L'Oreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss Crystal Sparkling Conditioner is a new hair favourite of mines for one reason only - it's GLITTERY! I use it's shampoo counterpart along with it. It doesn't give my hair superior shine, strength or body, but it leaves it's glitter particles in your hair and that's more than enough to impress me! Can you tell I get a bit excited just talking about this? Glittery hair products = the best thing since sliced bread. Repurchase? Do you really need to ask? If you haven't noticed before, I have massive love for The Body Shop as a brand in general, and have never been disappointed with any of their products. The Body Shop Satsuma Shower Gel is another brilliant product of theirs that can be added to my list of loves. It smells incredibly zingy and zesty. J'adore! Repurchase? Yes. Finally, we've reached the last product of my empties! Molton Brown Paradisiac Pink Pepperpod Bath & Shower Gel was sent to me in a little prize pack I received from a company (I can't remember which, oops). The name alone is rather fabulous and you know you're always getting quality with a brand like Molton Brown. Its fragrance is spicy and different from something I would go for myself usually. Nevertheless, I loved using this. Repurchase? As a beauty blogger I can always justify spending a stupid amount of money on one product, so I may treat myself in the future.

There you have it! I hope you enjoyed reading about my recent empties as much as I had fun writing it.
Let me know in the comments if you've tried anything I've mentioned, and your thoughts!

Montagne Jeunesse Blemish Mud Argile Anti-Imperfection Face Masque

I very rarely use face masks. Why? In my experience, they have never done anything worth noting for my skin. My Mum gave me this Montagne Jeunesse Blemish Mud Argile Anti-Imperfection Face Masque to try out from a raffle she had won at a charity night out. The instructions on the back tell you to cleanse before applying, so that's what I did. It also advises you to leave on for 10-15 minutes, and I left it on for 15. One thing I did like about the masque was the smell, which is aloe vera & willow. It also contains Mediterranean clay, evening primrose, rosemary and witch hazel. This is what the brand say the mask is supposed to do for you:
"Enliven your skin and help combat unsightly blemishes with our Aloe Vera and Willow Blemish Mud. Our special blend of nature’s remedies naturally targets your problem areas for a clear and clean complexion. "

Well, here's my problem areas: Redness, broken capillaries, large pores, blackheads, milia and I'm prone to a few spots here and there. Now obviously I don't expect a face mask to completely 100% alleviate these problems, but after washing off the mask, nothing looked any better than it did before. I decided to give it a chance and check out my face again when I woke up the next morning (I applied the mask last night). The only changes I noticed after washing the masque off was that my skin felt slightly tighter, and in quite a nice way. The only 'good' change basically. The negative changes were that parts of  my forehead, cheeks and chin (my sensitive areas, basically), felt and looked a bit irritated. The redness in my cheeks was also worse. The worst part for me was that I developed little red splotches on my forehead, which you will see in the pictures below. Thankfully, they did die down after a little while but it's a scary thing when something is supposed to make your skin look better and there's something unsightly there afterwards that wasn't there before. After washing off, I went ahead with my usual skin care routine.

Above: the bloody red splotches that developed on my forehead!

Queue the next day. My skin is looking exactly the same and I can't see any reduction in blemishes. Perhaps you have to use this a few times to see results? Who knows. I will definitely be doing A LOT of research before delving into the face mask world any further, as this one was disappointing.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution

Water-based cleansers are all the rage right now. As more beauty bloggers started talking about them, the more I felt intrigued to try one out for myself. It's safe to say I'm I glad I did. I've been using Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution for just over a month now, and I'm happy to say that this is the best cleanser I have ever used. It retails for £9.99 for 250ml or £4.50 for 100ml at The formulation is specifically designed for people with normal-to-dry and sensitive skin. I have particularly sensitive areas in my cheeks and chin, and it doesn't irritate them at all. It's also fragrance free which is great for me as I avoid putting fragranced products on my face at all costs. I apply to my whole face, neck and eyes in upwards motions. Not only does it remove make-up, it also removes dirt and other nastiness from your face. It's amazing seeing the amount of stuff that comes off your face on the cotton pad. I use twice daily, morning and night, as the first step in my skincare routine. The whole process feels so refreshing and your face looks and feels squeaky clean and pampered afterwards.

Yes, it's overly-talked about and yes, you may be sick of seeing the countless reviews about it. Regardless, I am urging you to try this bad boy out. It's affordable, but there are other alternatives on the market which are even cheaper and contain more product, for example, the L'Oreal Purifying 3 in 1 Micellar Solution is only £3 and the bottle is huge! My review is just another one to add to the list to back up how wonderful this product is. I actually panicked when my first bottle was about to run out! Thankfully, the postman brought my new bottle just in time. A massive 5 out of 5 goes to Bioderma from me!

Have you tried this? What are your thoughts on the hype?

Etsy Wishlist #2

Hello lovelies!
How have your weekends been? I've had a good past couple of days as I finished making up 17 hours worth of time at work so I can take a week off. Some of my family are going on holiday all at the same time, so I don't have anyone to watch my daughter while I'm at work! I even have a countdown on my phone because I'm so looking forward to it. 8 days and counting - woop! I also booked my driving test the other day but I'm not telling anyone when it is. Lots of people have said they told others when they had booked their test for and failed, then when they booked again for a resit and didn't say to anyone, they passed. So I'm adopting this as my mantra too. Anyway, since I've been very good with my spending ban, I thought I'd make another Etsy wishlist. You can see my first one here. By the way, I'm still obsessed with skulls.

1. Light grey inverted cross stud sweatshirt
2. Skull shamballa bracelet
3. iPhone 5 skull mermaid case
4. Red glitter lips earrings

The Skincare Tag

(Image from Pinterest)

Hello lovelies!
I've recently been a bit obsessed with reading about skincare products, and what works for different people. It's something I used to neglect due to just being young. You don't really care about such things when you're 16. Now that I'm 21 I know how beneficial and important it is to take care of your skin and take preventative action now before it's too late. I hope you enjoy this tag, and I tag every single one of you who takes the time to read my answers. Enjoy!

Describe your skin care routine in 5 words
Cleanse, moisturise, daily, easy, affordable.

What's your skin type?
I have combination skin - an oily nose with dry skin elsewhere and a few flaky patches, the worst being inbetween my eyebrows. Ugh.

What's your favourite skin care product?
Don't shoot me for saying this, but it has to be my precious Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution. It's the best cleanser I've ever used thus far, and I haven't had it that long.

Top blemish zapper
Quite honestly, I don't have one. On the odd occasion that I do get a spot or two, I leave it to go away on it's own if it's just a red blemish. On the other hand if it's a hideous monstrosity, I will squeeze it. We all do it.

Face wipes - yay or nay?
Yay for simplicity and for when you fall in the door drunk and cannot be bothered using your usual make-up remover. I only use them when I'm being very lazy. The only nay is that they don't really do anything  beneficial for your skin. So, I suppose yay wins overall.

High-end skin care or high-end make-up?
I prefer high-end make-up. I do not like paying through the nose for expensive skincare just to find that it's rubbish. Skincare products can also work very differently for different people. I don't dislike one piece of high-end make-up I own. You all know I'm a make-up freak anyway, so it wins hands down.

What's the most unusual skin care product you've tried?
Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant was an unusual one for me, as I never even knew there was such a thing as a 'microfoliant'. It's designed for daily use and isn't as abrasive as a regular exfoliant, like a facial scrub for instance. It's a white powder and when mixed with water, turns into a kind of paste. It was nice to use aswell.

You're in a french pharmacy and can only pick up one item - what is it?
Bioderma Micelle Solution. I'm sorry. I would rob the pharmacy so I could have all the stock.

Tell us your top skin care tip
I have three for you! Firstly, cleanse and moisturise twice daily, morning and night. Secondly, try not to change up your skincare routine as often as you change your underwear. If my skincare routine is working for me, then I see no point in trying something different. I've read many a time that when people change things too much, it affects the skin negatively and just makes things worse. Last, but not certainly not least, make sure you clean your make-up brushes after every use! You can use whatever works best for you, just as long are they are disinfected and squeaky clean. Using dirty brushes can increase the chance of unsightly breakouts and other nasty imperfections. Who really wants to put all the old, leftover product, oil and dirt back onto their freshly cleansed face? Not moi!

Is skincare important to you? What's your routine?

May Favourites!

Hello lovelies!
I cannot believe how quickly the months are flying are, and we're now almost half way through June. Where does the time go? I hope you've all been been to make the most of the nice weather here in the UK. I am actually quite pleased to say that for the first time in 8+ years, ladies and gentleman, I have sunburn and tanlines. I have always hated warm weather, hated the sun and avoided it at all costs. I haven't been on holiday since I was 14 either so I've never been in a situation where the sun was inevitable. For some reason recently, I haven't minded it as much. Fingers crossed it will turn into a bit of a tan.
I'm a bit late this month with my favourites. Nevertheless, I hope you like what I have to show you. If you have any questions about my favourites, feel free to leave them in the comments!
Enjoy the rest of your weekends. :)

Neutrogena Ultimate Moisture Day Cream
After the epic fail that was my Benefit moisturiser, I decided to pick up something cheaper to moisturise my skin. At least if this one didn't work, I wouldn't have wasted as much money. I'm happy to report that I have really enjoyed using this moisturiser, and for £7.99, it's not going to cost a bomb to try out for yourself. It's specifically aimed at folks with dry skin, so if you're in the same boat as me, have a look into it.

Escada Cherry In The Air Perfume
I'm by no means a perfume fanatic, so fragrances are something I generally don't buy for myself. I usually only get them when they're bought for me as a gift for my birthday or Christmas. This perfume, however, just looked so cute and yummy that I had to actually spend my own money on it. Cherry In The Air smells like, you guessed it, cherries. It's absolutely beautiful - fresh, fun and Summery. It's also limited edition, but I'm really hoping Escada make it permanent.

Gillette Venus & Olay Razor
This is the best razor I have ever used. Period. Compared to the regular, disposable razors that can tug and just feel generally horrible when shaving, this one is a godsend. It has two moisture bars on either side of the blades which make for a pleasant, comfortable shaving experience. This is definitely a great investment for those of you who shave a lot.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution
I've only had this product for about 3 weeks or so, and I can safely say it is fast becoming one of my favourite beauty products of all time. I don't have a bad thing to say about it. I much prefer it to the traditional cream cleansers I've used over the years. It removes make-up and dirt brilliantly, and leaves my skin feeling refreshed. Look out for a review on the blog shortly. Believe the hype on this one!

Illamasqua Blush in Unrequited
This gorgeous light pink powder blush has been one of my go-to's for a long time now. It's amazingly pigmented and has lasted me for a good while - it doesn't even look as if there's been a dent made in it! This is my one and only Illamasqua blush but if this is anything to go by, they should all be fabulous. I'm definitely planning on expanding my Illamasqua blush collection in the future.

What do you think of my May favourites?
