Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation

REVIEW: Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation

Today's review is for Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation, which I purchased last month. I first mentioned it in one of my haul posts which you can check out here. I don't have very many foundations, infact I think I have around 5, so this purchase was just to build up my collection. A full-size bottle is 30ml and is described as being "transfer proof" with a "hydrating & lightweight feel". My colour is 100 Ivory. I bought mines for £6.98 in Asda but you can also purchase from Boots for £6.99 and gain 699 points if you have a Boots clubcard. There are probably other places you can purchase this aswell. As always, click on the images to see them in full size. Let's get going!

The bottle is made from glass and is a little heavy. I don't carry foundation around with me, so it's not a problem for me but it may be slightly bulky for those with small make-up bags. It comes in 6 different shades, and to be honest, they don't cover a very wide spectrum of skin colours, which is unfair to those with deeper skin or extremely pale skin. I like to see brands who cater from the palest to the darkest of skin.

The product applies pretty evenly to the skin which is always good. If you're having trouble with streaky foundation, try patting the product in or switch up your foundation tool. I applied mines on the day of testing with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush, which is my favourite foundation brush. The foundation dries to a matte finish but is not overly drying. The only problem it gave me is some dryness around my eyebrow area which is something I have always had. If you have very dry skin you may want to try something more moisturising. I wouldn't say this foundation was particularly 'hydrating' as it states on the packaging, because it did slightly worsen my dry patches. With regards to being transfer-proof and lightweight, I would happily agree with those statements. It didn't feel heavy at all and sat nicely on all other parts of my face. I would say the coverage for me was medium, as it didn't cover all of the redness on my cheeks and nose but certainly evened out everywhere else.

I applied the foundation at 13:00 and by the time 15:00 came around, it was still the same in terms of coverage and colour. Now, I never expected this foundation to last all day and I've never used a foundation that lasted all day either, so the fact that it did eventually start to break down was no surprise. However, if you have any recommendations then please share them with me! By 16:00 there was a tiny bit of skin showing through on my nose caused by my oily T-Zone. I generally don't touch up during the day, but had I done so, it would have ruined the whole meaning of a true review, as the whole point is to say how well it lasted on it's own. For the next 2 hours, the oiliness on my nose stayed the same. At 19:00 there was a bit more fading on my nose and also some on the cheeks. I eventually took the foundation off at 20:30, with the end result being shininess on the nose and some skin showing on my cheeks. Any other areas on the face had faded slightly but there was still product there. 7 and a half hours of wear is alright in my books, although as I said before it wasn't a perfect coverage when I went to take it off. If I'm wearing foundation during the day, it's probably because I'm at work or if I'm going shopping, so if the product lasts while I'm out doing these things then that's all I really want. I could care less if it stays on perfectly while I'm in the house doing nothing, to be honest.

Overall, I do like this foundation, but is not something I would repurchase as it didn't do anything amazing to my skin. It gave me the coverage I am generally used to and as with all foundations I have used before my evil T-Zone prevailed in it's oily ways eventually. I'm always looking for the perfect foundation because I have yet to come across one that gives me a flawless-looking complexion that doesn't cost a bomb. If you want to try any other Rimmel products for the face, I highly recommend the Wake Me Up foundation which is one of my favourites. If you would like a review on that, then please let me know.

I hope this review helped any of you who are looking to try this product and that you enjoyed reading it! Please subscribe to my blog for more reviews, and check out my YouTube channel for even more goodies! Have a great day/afternoon/night, wherever you are.

August 2012 Joliebox

August 2012 Joliebox

Hiya! Here's a short overlook of my Joliebox for August. I was considering cancelling my subscription before I got this month's box, but after receiving this I was really impressed. I'm gonna stick it out and see what next month's box is like. Please make it as good as this one, Joliebox! This month's theme is A JolieHoliday. Prices have not yet been updated on the website so I will update this post with all the pricing info as soon as I see it. For more info, visit www.joliebox.co.uk. Click on the images to see them in full-size. Let's get started...

First product:

Dr. Bronner's Pure-Castile Soap 'Pillows'
These magic all-in-one soaps loved by the A-list cleans and revives from head-to-toe.

I'm big on trying out new shower gels so I'm pleased with these miniatures. The packaging is really cute and is made from 75% post-consumer paper. The product is also certified fair-trade and is made with organic oils, so they sound lovely and natural. The orange packet is Citrus Orange, the dark blue is 18-in-1 Peppermint and the light blue is Unscented Baby-Mild.

Second Product:

Phil Smith Be Gorgeous Dry Clean Revitalising Dry Shampoo
This dry shampoo blitzes oily roots and leaves hair feeling fresh and clean.

I don't know why I've never invested in a dry shampoo. I guess I just learned to accept the fact that my hair goes greasy the next day and I have to wash it, and that's that. I'm excited to use this though to see if I can actually go out a second day in a row with unwashed hair. It's a total pain having to wash your hair daily, especially if you have somewhere to go. I'll let you know how this goes!

Third Product:

So Susan Cosmetics Lip Cushion
A sheer gloss to tint and moisturize chapped lips.

I'm definitely looking forward to trying this product. It smells really sweet, like cherries, and has a gorgeous girly pink shimmer to it.

Fourth Product:

So Susan Cosmetics Wide Awake Face Palette
A palette of skin-enhancing colour tools to give you a summer glow.

This is the best product in this month's box, in my opinion. It looks like a full-size palette to me so I'd say I definitely got my money's worth here. According to the packaging, it's cruelty-free which is always a bonus.

Fifth Product:

Joliebox Leather Hair Styling Lace
A leather lace to create endless updo's.

This is the most useless product of the bunch for me. I just don't see myself ever using anything like this to tie up my hair. I'll stick to bobbles, thanks.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Please subscribe to be notified by email when I update my blog!

Chanel Rouge Allure Swatches

My Mum was in town a few days ago and picked me up a little sample from the Chanel counter in Debenhams (which apparently they don't do a lot). Have you tried any Rouge Allure lipsticks? What do you think of them?
Here's the pictures:

99 Pirate

102 Palpitante

104 Passion

97 Incandescente

After swatching these, I definitely want to buy one of these lipsticks. Incandescente is my favourite because I don't own an orangey-red and it does compliment my skin tone rather well. They feel moisturising when you apply them which is always a good thing and they have a nice shine too. Have a great weekend! I'm not sure if these have been launched yet because I can't find them on any websites.

My 5 All-Time Favourite Lip Glosses

My 5 All-Time Favourite Lip Glosses

These 5 lipglosses are really special to me, so I thought I would share them with all of you! I highly recommend all of them so please check them out. As always, click the images to see them in full-size! Let's get started with the pictures:

L-R: Collection 2000 Plastique Lipgloss in Glitter Plastique, Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lipgloss in Julio, MAC Dazzleglass in Funtabulous, MAC Superglass in Cherry Electric, MAC Lipglass in Russian Red

Collection 2000 Plastique Lipgloss in Glitter Plastique

A clear lipgloss with duo-chrome glitter
RRP £2.99/8ml from eBay. Possibly discontinued

This lipgloss is really nostalgic for me. I used to have it years and years ago when I first started high school. The thing I always remembered was the texture when you put it on your lips. I repurchased this a few months ago and it's just as good as I remember. I can't quite describe the texture in my own words, although I think for some reason the word 'plastique' sums it up perfectly. This doesn't last as long as I would like, but I don't mind re-applying it because I enjoy doing so!

Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lipgloss in Julio

A silver/white tinted lipgloss with blue, lilac and silver shimmer
£13.00/8ml from www.debenhams.com

This was my first ever Urban Decay lipgloss, and actually the only one I own. It has the most amazing smell in the world - it smells like creme brulee. You just have to smell it to see what it's like. I can't recommend it enough. It's slightly sticky, which I don't mind because I know it's going to last for a good amount of time. I usually just wear this on it's own.

MAC Dazzleglass in Funtabulous

A pinky purple lipgloss with pink shimmer
£17.00/2.4ml from www.maccosmetics.co.uk

As you can see from the pictures, this lipgloss is well-loved. There's almost nothing left, which makes me sad! I'm not sure if this was limited edition or not (I hope not), but when I run out this is a definite repurchase for me. It's so bright and fun on the lips, and really girl too. It looks great teamed with purple eye look.

MAC Superglass in Cherry Electric

A coral-pink with chunky glitter and shimmer
Price unknown/Limited edition

I love how chunky the glitter is in this lipgloss. It's not irritating in the slightest, or at least for me it isn't. The colour is great on it's own - you don't have to wear a lipstick underneath. I also love the name. It smells lovely and sweet too, as all MAC lipglosses do.

MAC Lipglass in Russian Red

A rich, true red
£13.50/4.8g from www.maccosmetics.co.uk

This was my first ever MAC lipgloss and it's my favourite colour of all time. It's such a classic, true red and would look great on any skin tone. I love to wear it with some black winged eyeliner. The combination of the two are perfect together. If you want to build on your red lipcolour collection, this one is a must-have.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know what your 5 all-time favourite lipglosses are in the comments.
