July 2012 Glossybox

July 2012 Glossybox ♥

I realise I may be a little late compared to everyone else in posting this but I thought I'd share my July box with you all anyway. If you don't know what Glossybox is, it's a £10 a month subscription box containing 5 miniature products for you to try. The products can range from skincare to perfume. You either take a monthly, quarterly, bi-annual or annual subscription. I personally believe the monthly service is the better option because you can cancel at any time. The P&P is £2.95, costing you a combined total of £12.95. You can collect 'glossydots' by reviewing each month's products - once you have 1000 glossydots you can order a free box. There is also a Glossybox for Men which was recently introduced. For more info, go to You can also follow them on Twitter (@GlossyBoxUK).

Here is the usual box you get every month:

Inside July's box:

Details of what's inside:

First product:

Bex London Londoner Urban Fragrance 2ml
Full-size: £81/100ml
Four high concentration, modern fragrances, inspired by the unique character and idiosyncrasies of London.

I always find it amusing when you come across fragrances that are so ridiculously expensive but you've never heard of the brand in your life. This is one of those brands. There is nothing I like about the scent of this fragrance. It smells more like a man's fragrance, rather than a woman's. I'm assuming it's meant for women, but I could be wrong. It's really quite overpowering actually. It smells slightly spicy and woody, if that makes sense. Definitely not something I will be using I'm afraid. If you would like a full review on this, let me know.

Second product:

Paul Mitchell Awapuwi Moisture Mist 100ml (3.4 fl. oz.)
Full-size: £9.25/250ml
Gives thirsty hair and skin the moisture they crave. Helps you feel refreshed all day long.

I like the idea of this product. It's good that you can use it for two things (skin and hair), rather than just one.  Multi-purpose products are always good in my book. I have quite coarse hair so I'm going to try this on wet hair and see what the effects are. As for my face, I have combo skin with both the dry and oily parts being quite bad. I have an oily T-Zone and the rest of my face is dry, so I don't think I'd be using this on my face. I will, however, give it a go on other parts of my body. If you would like a full review on this, let me know.

Third product:

Monu Eye Cool Gel 20ml
Full-size: £16.95/15ml
This refreshing gel instantly revives and tones tired eyes, reduces puffiness and dark circles.

I've had Monu products before in a previous Glossybox and I never used it. I actually sold it on eBay. This product is something I'm willing to try but I would not go out and purchase a full-size after using the miniature. I've never used eye gels and I've never really had or felt the need to. My skin care routine is quite basic and I don't like to regularly switch things up. I know what works well for me and what doesn't. If you would like a full review on this, let me know.

Fourth product:

Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics Lip Frosting 15ml
Full-size: £10/15ml
A multifunctional cream gloss. Use on lips for a tint of colour, or cheeks for a luminous glow.

This is the product I'm most excited about in July's box. The colour (or scent) is Irish Cream Pavlova, and it does smell lovely. It smells a bit like cherries, but at the same time it's not an overly fruity smell. I would say it was more of a sweet smell which is always nice. I can smell a bit of cream in there aswell, as the name would suggest. If you would like a full review on this, let me know.

Fifth product:

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse 10ml
Full-size: £17.50/50ml
Apply this dry oil to your face, body and hair all year round, in Summer and in Winter.

In all honesty, I had no idea what a dry oil was so I had to do a quick search beforehand. For those of you who are just as clueless as I am about this:
Dry body oil (most often in spray form, but not always) is actually an oil that you just spray on your skin. A veil of mist helps the oil-based treatment spread evenly across long limbs and lean arms, leaving a non-greasy, almost demi-matte yet softly scented finish.

I'm not sure why I would want my skin to have a demi-matte finish, but I will give it a go nevertheless. It apparently leaves a satin finish to the skin. I don't have the time to slather my whole body in this stuff so I'll try it on my arms or legs. I may give it a go in my hair aswell. In the end, this is really a pointless product for me and is not something I would use regularly. If you would like a full review on this, let me know.

Bonus Product:

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Gentle Hydrating Skincare
3 x 2ml samples
Works to keep skin soft, supple and here to stay.

In this little sample, you receive 3 individual sachets: Gentle Hydrating Cleanser, Optimizing Skin Serum and Gentle Hydrating Cream SPF 15. I've never tried any Elizabeth Arden products (bar Red Door perfume, which I strongly disliked) and I can't say that it's a brand I've ever been interested in. As I've said before, I don't like to switch up my skincare routine so this will probably be another eBay number. I'm always afraid that trying new products will make my skin worse or even break me out.

Overall, I am not too thrilled about this month's box. I do really love the whole Glossybox concept and I get excited when it comes to the middle of the month and I know my box is coming. I like the idea of getting a surprise but sometimes the surprises just aren't everyone's cup of tea. I can't fault them for giving out a variety of products, because that's the whole point. As I said above, the product I am most pleased with is the Lip Frosting. The brand name, packaging and product itself are all very appealing to me, as I am more into make-up as opposed to skincare products. I definitely will be continuing my subscription with Glossybox. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Welcome to my blog! ♥

Welcome to my blog! ♥

I've finally got around to starting up my blog, and I'm really excited to start posting. For my first post I'm going to talk a little bit about myself and post a picture or two so that you have a general idea of who I am.

I'm Naomii. I'm 20 years old, and I was born, and still live in Scotland. I have a two-and-a-half year old daughter who lives with me in our flat. I currently work part time in debt management 3 days a week. I'm going to Cumbernauld College in August to study Level 6 Beauty Care & Make-Up. I'm really looking forward to starting and expanding on my knowledge of beauty and make-up. There are two routes I can go down after finishing this course: Beauty Therapy or Make-Up. I will be going on to do HNC & HND Make-Up Artistry if all goes as planned. I've had so many careers in mind over the years, but make-up is one of my biggest passions. I want to work with something that I love, so this is my current career path. I'm also interested in starting my own YouTube channel for reviews, tutorials and hauls, etc. This may be something I start up in coming months. If you want to know anything else, just ask!
